Roma NYC is the solo music project/production of Andrew Francini. Raised a classical pianist in Orange County, Andrew's roots in music span generations throughout his family. Andrew's mother was a California state champion in classical piano, his father a drummer, and his grandmother a concert pianist in Germany and Korea. From the ages of 5 to 15, Andrew competed on a state level -- playing the romantic-era tunes of Chopin to the eccentric, contemporary pieces of Gershwin. Andrew's older brother, Matthew, was a huge influence on Andrew's instrumentation. Both Andrew and Matt taught themselves how to play guitar, drums, synth and bass and drew inspiration from bands such as Metallica, the Foo Fighters, Nirvana and Led Zeppelin. The two brothers played in a band together for years named Sunset Rising.
Andrew went on to attend the University of Southern California and received a studio jazz guitar minor at the Thornton School of Music. Andrew played in various bands throughout high school and college and ultimately ended up in Brooklyn, New York. After electing to exit the corporate world in 2022, Andrew was able to focus on music and create what is now Roma NYC. Roma NYC quickly gained popularity on their single "East Coast" immediately upon release. On their debut show in New York, Roma sold out the Sultan Room in Bushwick, Brooklyn with over 250 people in attendance. Inspired by artists such as Alex G, DIIV, Interpol, The Smiths, and The Cure, Roma NYC's aggressive, punchy, yet sensitive sound sinks deep into the listeners conscious evoking feelings of love, rejection, reflection, emotional distance, and most importantly, truth.
Roma NYC's first studio album will be released in Summer of 2025.
